Nice-Ville Station, locally known as “Gare Thiers” due to its location in the Thiers district of Nice, is the city’s main railway station, situated in the Alpes-Maritimes department.
It was opened in October 1864 by the Paris–Lyon–Mediterranean Railway Company (PLM).
The station is part of Nice’s architectural heritage, with its brick-and-stone façade, glass-roofed hall, and central clock, inspired by the public buildings of Paris. These features make Nice-Ville Station a symbol of the arrival of the railway in Nice and its connection to the national network.
The station has seven tracks and four platforms. For passengers with reduced mobility, the “Assist’enGare” service is available to ensure accessibility. Nice-Ville Station lies on the Marseille–Saint-Charles to Ventimiglia line (the Italian border). It is served by long-distance TGV trains, including Ouigo, as well as regional TER Provence–Alpes–Côte d’Azur services to Marseille, Toulon, Cannes, Ventimiglia, and many other destinations.
Just a few steps from Nice-Ville Station is the Iconic Nice shopping center, which is described as being directly connected to the station, making it a convenient stop for travelers arriving or departing by train.
The station serves as a major gateway to the French Riviera region.
A taxi stand is located right in front of the train station, with taxis waiting for passengers. If no one is there, call us at 04 93 13 78 78 or send us a message on WhatsApp.
