Inaugurated in 2013 under the initiative of the City of Nice and with the support of Allianz, the Allianz Riviera is a multifunctional and eco-friendly stadium with a capacity of 36,178 seats, and has become a true symbol of Nice’s dynamism. Home to OGC Nice, it also hosts major sporting and cultural events such as UEFA Euro 2016, the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Top 14 semi-finals, the 2024 Olympic Games, as well as major concerts.
The stadium stands out for its innovative and sustainable architecture, which earned it The International Architecture Award in 2014. Located in the heart of the Eco-Vallée Plaine du Var, it represents a model of eco-construction, featuring a photovoltaic roof, geothermal systems, and optimized resource management.
The Allianz Riviera is also home to the National Sports Museum (Musée National du Sport), the only museum in France dedicated to sports culture. Labeled “Musée de France” since 2004, it is a Public Administrative Establishment under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports. The museum preserves nearly 45,000 objects and 400,000 documents, retracing the history of sports and its heroes. Established in Nice since 2014, at the very heart of the stadium, it offers a permanent exhibition structured around four major themes, along with numerous temporary exhibitions, workshops, and educational events.
A true hub of life, the Allianz Riviera brings together sport, culture, innovation, and sustainable commitment. It houses companies, coworking spaces, and supports social and community initiatives. More than just a stadium, the Allianz Riviera is a Niçoise landmark, showcasing French architectural excellence and the sporting and cultural influence of the French Riviera.
